Tashiro Antei

Tashiro Antei (1857-1928) was born into a samurai family in Satsuma, which was later to be designated Kagoshima prefecture. He was the first Japanese mainlander to conduct systematic surveys of Yaeyama, and introduced it to Japanese during that time.
